Medtec China 2017: WACKER Presents New Silicone Rubber for the Producing of Medical Articles with Second Shaping

ELASTOSIL^® R plus 4501 is a platinum-catalysed addition-curing, two-part silicone rubber for manufacturing moulded and extruded articles. Cured articles show an excellent transparency and very good tensile strength, elongation and tear resistance. Its unique formulation allows controlled shaping of the extruded products during post curing. This is especially suitable for articles which need second shaping, such as LMA, spiral drainage tube and U-shape tube for hemodialysis. ELASTOSIL^® R plus 4501 complies with safety standards of the German agency for risk assessment (BfR) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

ELASTOSIL^® R 406/70 fumed silica grade high consistency silicone rubber can be cured by both peroxide and platinum catalyst systems. Cured articles are noted for their good flexibility, transparency and elasticity. The compounds are easily pigmented with pigment pastes and have good processing characteristics. With a platinum catalyst system, ELASTOSIL^® R 406/70 is ideal for large-scale economical production of extruded medical tubes with general purpose. In the case of curing with peroxide, ELASTOSIL^® R 406/70 shows an excellent extruding effect.
