Chinacoat 2018: WACKER Presents A Series of Vinyl Acetate-Ethylene Copolymers for Metope Adornment Materials

At Chinacoat 2018, WACKER will be presenting a series of vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymers for metope adornment materials. VINNAPAS® EF 818 VAE dispersion combines excellent performance with cost-in-use benefits and is an ideal binder for low-odor and low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) interior paints. VINNAPAS® 5544 N is a dispersible polymer powder especially developed for interior decorative materials, such as diatom ooze and skim coats. This product is free of odor and formulated without alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs). WACKER will also focus on VINNAPAS® 7031 H, a dispersible polymer powder which improves the overall performance of hydrophobic, i.e. water repellent plasters in order to provide durable protection for buildings. Chinacoat 2018 takes place in Guangzhou from December 4 to 6.
VINNAPAS® EF 818 is one of WACKER’s highlights at Chinacoat 2018. The VAE dispersion can be used for interior paint formulations which provide superior gloss retention and scrub-resistance, as well as better hiding power. It is produced without the use of Alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) and does not need organic solvents for coalescing agents. At VOC levels of less than 5 g/l, the product is an ideal binder for high performance low-odor interior paints. In addition, VINNAPAS® EF 818 has a good response to associative thickeners. Binder usage can also be reduced by proportionally raising the Pigment Volume Concentration (PVC) content. Thus, the binder offers overall cost-in-use advantages at a given performance level.
WACKER will also present VINNAPAS® 5544 N, a dispersible polymer powder that has been especially developed for interior decorative materials, such as diatom ooze and skim coats. The product is odorless, in particular in the wet-mixed mortar, and is formulated without APEOs. VINNAPAS® 5544 N features excellent adhesion strength and scrub-resistance. The product contains very fine particles which are easy to spray. Its high flexibility also enhances the crack resistance of diatom ooze. Furthermore, its excellent dispersibility can significantly improve the workability of final products. Therefore, VINNAPAS® 5544 N is especially suitable for formulating highly flexible mortars with very good adhesion to inorganic and organic substrates.
VINNAPAS® 7031 H, another WACKER highlight at the booth, is a flexible dispersible polymer powder with a hydrophobic effect and very good workability. Compounds modified with VINNAPAS® 7031 H exhibit improved flexural strength. The product offers several advantages such as high deformability, crack and whiskering resistance, as well as improved cohesion and adhesion to substrates. It also significantly reduces water absorption and shrinking percentage of decorative plasters. Thus, VINNAPAS® 7031 H dispersible polymer powder helps to improve the overall performance of hydrophobic plasters in order to provide durable protection and more natural appearance to buildings.
