In its environmental performance assessment, WACKER converts its production sites’ emissions, consumption and energy use into environmental units. These include water use and waste, and reflect weighting factors for such aspects as safety, environmental-law requirements and public acceptance.
Reasons for again publishing WACKER’s report exclusively as an online version include minimizing resource consumption and thus serving the interests of environmental protection. The report meets the Sustainability Reporting Standards (SRS) of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). It covers traditional sustainability topics such as occupational, product and plant safety, environmental protection and sustainability management. It sets out WACKER’s environmental objectives, lists the energy consumption figures, and provides information on water demand. There is a new chapter about sustainability within the supply chain. The report also features noise protection, a key aspect of social responsibility, and describes measures and projects to reduce noise at WACKER’s production sites.
As a core element of WACKER’s business model, sustainability is one of the company’s five strategic goals. Through responsible stewardship, WACKER contributes to at least seven of the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The report is accessible in English and German at: www.wacker.com/sustainabilityreport. It offers easy navigation and interactive functions, such as key-figure comparisons and download options. It is available as a PDF either for printing or for viewing online.
