Wacker Metroark Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. is expanding its existing silicone production at its Amtala site near Kolkata with a new hydrosilylation plant for manufacturing functional silicone fluids. The plant with an annual capacity of over 6,000 metric tons was officially opened today at a ceremony in Amtala. The expansion is WACKER’s response to growing regional demand for specialty silicones for use in the textile, personal-care, rigid and flexible polyurethane foam and agrochemical sectors. The investment for the plant amounts to around €6 million.

WACKER, the Munich-based chemical group, is strengthening its presence in Russia by expanding the service portfolio offered by its technical center in Moscow.

The new website www.chem2do.de not only shows the experiments in the WACKER experiment kit, but also offers numerous animations. These explain the chemical reactions on a molecular level in a clear and visual way. With the ‘bookmark’ feature, key points of the videos can easily be found.

Provided the relevant training has been completed, the WACKER experiment kit is available free of charge. The courses take place throughout Germany.
