WACKER’s US subsidiary Wacker Chemical Corporation runs a technical center as part of its offices and manufacturing facility at its headquarters located in Adrian, Michigan. Now, the company decided to expand its research capacities by establishing additional R&D labs in Ann Arbor, MI.

LUMISIL® 740

At the K 2016 International Trade Fair for Plastics Rubber, WACKER will be showcasing the new NRI encapsulants LUMISIL® 740 and LUMISIL® 770. The silicone gradses effectively protect the sensitive LED semiconductor chip against environmental influences. They can additionally serve as carriers for luminescent dyes, which can selectively influence the color of the light emitted by the LED.

POWERSIL® 403

WACKER’s new POWERSIL® 403 silicone rubber dispersion helps make sleeves for transmission and distribution cables safe to operate for long periods of time. The dispersion, which contains no aromatics, forms a conductive film on the insulating silicone, protecting the material from electrostatic charging. POWERSIL® 403 is flexible and resists abrasion. Sleeves that have been coated in this way can be shipped in their extended state and installed on cable connectors on site using cold-shrink processes
