This is a continuous manufacturing process whereby silicone rubber is forced through a die to shape it, and is then cured. The necessary pressure is produced by a conveying screw, in which the material is homogenized, compressed and vented. This is how medical and pharmaceutical tubing is made. SILPURAN® and ELASTOSIL® solid silicone rubber comes in blocks wrapped in antistatic foil and sealed inside a bag.
Injection molding is currently the most popular and efficient method of producing large quantities of silicones in consistently high quality. SILPURAN® and ELASTOSIL® HTV and LSR silicone rubber compounds can be processed to gaskets, membranes and valves with this method. WACKER liquid silicone rubber is supplied as a two-part system (A/B) in 20 kg pails and 200 kg drums.
