ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR

Our first silicone films were made of RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber) from WACKER’s portfolio. These are products named ELASTOSIL^® Film 2030 and SILPURAN^® Film 2030. Various thicknesses are available each. We are now also able to produce silicone films based on WACKER’s LSR (liquid silicone rubber). Products made of LSR are named for example ELASTOSIL^® Film 3003 (based on ELASTOSIL^® LR 3003), ELASTOSIL^® Film 630, and SILPURAN^® Film 6000.

ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR is a fully cured silicone film made from liquid silicone rubber (LSR). While RTV-based silicone films remain an excellent solution for very thin and highly precise films, LSR-based films offer greater mechanical versatility, especially in thicker gauges from 400 microns up to 2 millimeters. This makes ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR particularly suitable for applications requiring higher elasticity, tear strength and long-term mechanical stability.

ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR is ideal for applications that demand precise thickness, high elasticity and reliable mechanical performance. Typical uses include electrical insulation, vibration damping, heat and flame protection, medical and personal care applications, as well as outdoor and technical components. Wherever existing silicone films reach their limits, ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR opens up new design and application possibilities.

Yes. Depending on the specific product type, ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR can be used in medical, cosmetic and food-contact applications. For medical environments requiring tested biocompatibility and purity, SILPURAN^® Film grades are available. All films are produced under cleanroom conditions with continuous quality monitoring.

Many applications fail due to high temperatures, UV radiation or aggressive media. Our new silicone film ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR is temperature-resistant (-45°C to +200°C), UV and weather-resistant, and offers options for flame retardancy. Thus, its mechanical strength combines high elasticity with excellent tear resistance – even at extreme (low/high) temperatures, making it very interesting for applications such as seals or flexible electronics.

Yes, there is for example ELASTOSIL^® Film 630. This silicone film contains the same mechanical properties as its raw material POWERSIL^® 630. Heat-resistant silicone films of this type offer excellent electrical insulation and ceramifying properties.

Especially for medical and cosmetic applications, materials with tested biocompatibility and purity are mandatory. Be sure that we constantly monitor our product quality. There are in-line inspection systems to check 100% of the product to ensure flawless high and constant quality of the products. We produce under cleanroom conditions, too. For medical applications, our biocompatible SILPURAN^® Film types are available.

Our silicone films made of RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber) are available in thicknesses of 10 to 400 microns. Our latest product line produced from LSR (liquid silicone rubber) comes in thicknesses of 400 microns to 2 millimeters.

Yes, there are product types with special properties. Our silicone films carry the same properties as the LSR they are based on. In this way, features like UV and weathering resistance and excellent dielectric behavior are now available in the form of thin and precise films. POWERSIL^® XLR^® 630 offers excellent electrical insulation and ceramifying properties. For the specific requirements of medical applications, SILPURAN^® Film is the right choice.

Yes. ELASTOSIL^® Film LSR is made from 100% fully cross-linked silicone elastomers, providing excellent resistance to UV radiation, weathering, moisture and temperature fluctuations. Even without additional stabilizers, the films remain permanently elastic and mechanically stable over time, making them well suited for demanding outdoor and environmental applications.

Yes. During manufacturing, colors, functional additives and adhesive layers can be integrated directly into the film.
