High LDL-cholesterol values are among the most important risk factors for coronary heart diseases and atherosclerosis. A clinical study has shown that LDL-cholesterol values can be significantly reduced by HTEssence® (Siefer et al., J Nutr Med Diet Care 2018, 4:025). HTEssence® is a nature-identical, highly pure hydroxytyrosol, that is produced in a patented process. The coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), also known as ubiquinone, is a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance. As a preferred antioxidant, it is claimed to have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system and support the optimum functioning of the heart muscle. CoQ10 biosynthesis decreases with age and the consequent deficits in tissues are associated with degenerative changes appearing in the course of aging. CoQ10 supplementation can help improve the efficiency of energy production in human heart tissue (Rosenfeldt et al., 2003).
Since CoQ10 is a fat-soluble substance, which is poorly absorbed, it is not readily bioavailable in many commercial products. With CAVAQ10®, WACKER offers a gamma-cyclodextrin complex whose bioavailability is 18-fold higher than that of conventional CoQ10 products. This value has been proven in a human clinical study (Terao et. al., 2006).
