Polysilicon division under new leadership

  • Peter von Zumbusch will take over as Head of WACKER’s Polysilicon business division effective October 1, 2026
  • Zumbusch succeeds Tobias Brandis, who will be leaving the company on September 30, 2026, at his own request, to pursue new challenges
  • WACKER CEO Christian Hartel: “With Peter von Zumbusch, a top manager with international experience from within our own ranks will be taking the lead in the future development of our polysilicon business. At the same time, we would like to thank the outgoing divisional head, Tobias Brandis, for his outstanding work.”

Change in leadership at the helm of WACKER’s polysilicon business: Peter von Zumbusch, who has, to date, served as Site Manager of the WACKER plant in Burghausen, will take over as Head of the Polysilicon business division. He will be succeeding Tobias Brandis, who will be leaving the company on September 30 at his own request to take on the role of Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at Daimler Truck AG.

Peter von Zumbusch has been with WACKER for around 30 years. A native of Munich, he studied energy and process engineering in Munich and Berlin, and subsequently earned his doctorate in the same field in Hamburg. After holding various management positions in Procurement and Technology, Zumbusch took over as head of the Zhangjiagang site in China in 2005 and, starting in 2008, drove the overall growth of WACKER’s business in China. After returning to Germany in 2013, he held several other management positions before taking over as Site Manager of the production facility in Burghausen, WACKER’s largest site worldwide with around 8,000 employees, in 2021.

“I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Peter von Zumbusch, an outstanding colleague from our own midst, to succeed Tobias Brandis as head of our polysilicon business. With his in-depth knowledge of the company, his strong technical expertise, and his international leadership experience as well as strategic acumen, he will continue to successfully shape the development of the Polysilicon business division,” says WACKER CEO Christian Hartel.

At the same time, he extends his special thanks to the outgoing divisional head: “Tobias Brandis has substantially shaped the Polysilicon division over the past ten years. One of his key achievements has been the consistent focus of the business on semiconductor-grade polysilicon," Hartel emphasizes. “On behalf of the entire Executive Board, I would like to thank him for his dedication and hard work, and I wish him all the best in his professional and personal life.” Tobias Brandis, who holds a doctorate in law, joined WACKER in 2007. He was appointed Head of the Polysilicon division in 2016.

Jutta Matreux, who has headed WACKER’s plant at the Nünchritz site since 2019, will succeed Peter von Zumbusch as Site Manager of the Burghausen facility effective October 1, 2026. In addition to her new role as Site Manager, she will assume overall responsibility for the Burghausen and Nünchritz sites.
