President’s Message

Innovation. Customer access. Investments in research, equipment and facilities. World-class laboratories. And the best team.

These are some of the key ingredients to achieving success in North America - one of WACKER’s fastest growing and most important forward-looking markets globally.

Wacker Chemical Corporation (WCC) – the North American subsidiary of Wacker Chemie AG - is a results-based business providing customers with customizable, value-creating solutions.

To meet our customers’ needs, we must develop the best possible economical, high-quality products. And to do that, we need the best team in the industry – and I’m proud to call them my colleagues.

But none of that matters if we don’t live up to the highest safety standards. At WACKER, safety is the precondition for everything we do. We never stop looking for ways to work more safely so our employees can go home and return the next day to do what we do best - creating tomorrow’s solutions.

Our robust presence throughout the Americas includes eight production plants, five tech centers and sales offices, 21 distributors, and a variety of R&D initiatives and application laboratories.

We manufacture silicones at our plant in Adrian, MI, polysilicon at our site in Charleston, TN, polymers in Calvert City, KY, biosolutions in Eddyville, IA, biotech manufacturing in San Diego, CA, and run silicone mixing operations under the SILMIX® trademark in N. Canton, OH, and Chino, CA.

I am proud of what we have done so far in the Americas, and look forward to continuing to collaborate, innovate and serve our customers to embrace the incredible opportunities that lie ahead.

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing in the US

In 2021, WACKER strengthened its business by adding a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) location for plasmid DNA (pDNA) based in San Diego, Calif. The demand for pDNA has risen sharply in recent years. This new WACKER location includes a capacity up to 650 liters for the production and purification of pDNA. For decades, WACKER has been manufacturing therapeutic proteins, living microbial products and vaccines for clinical development as well as commercial supply. This proprietary pDNA technology enhances WACKER's portfolio and creates a US presence in serving as a contract manufacturer for the pharmaceutical industry.
