SILRES® BS 6923

SILRES® BS 6923 is a silane-terminated binder based on α-silane technology for the impregnation of mineral substrates or as a thin layer coating for mineral substrates.


Properties

SILRES® BS 6923 is a transparent, low viscosity binder.   Cure via amines is recommended, particularly amino-silanes.

Pot life as well as speed of through-cure can be adjusted by the aminosilane loading. GENIOSIL® DAPTM (~ 5 %) is recommended. For application below temperatures of 15°C addition of catalyst (ca. 0.2%, e.g. TMG (1, 1, 3, 3-tetramethylguanidine)) is required.

SILRES® BS 6923 is easily formulated in a standard mixer.  The catalyst GENIOSIL® DAPTM is added as the final component. Upon catalyst addition the mixture becomes moisture sensitive, thus air contact must be avoided. Use of an inert gas or fast filling in sealed packaging is recommended. 

Additional additives will be necessary depending on application, including UV-stabilizers, rheology modifiers, and flow/leveling adjustment.

0.4 parts GENIOSIL® Stabilizer T

0.3 parts BYK-1799

0.3 parts BYK-3568

5 parts GENIOSIL® DAPTM

 

Example of formulation for grey pigmented and filled formulation:

70 parts SILRES® BS 6923

5 parts GENIOSIL® DAPTM

8.0 parts titanium dioxide (Kronos® 2190)

0.2 parts carbon black

15 parts CaCO3 (OMYACARB® 5-GU)

ALTERNATIVELY, replace pigments with pigment paste: Holcolac CC (Holland Colors)

0.6 parts HDK® N20

1.0 parts GENIOSIL® STABILIZER T

0.2 parts BYK-3550

Storage

The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
