SILFOAM® SE 4260

SILFOAM® SE 4260 is a silicone antifoam emulsion which is especially designed for applications in cold climates.
It shows an extended frost stability and can be applied at temperatures below 0 °C.


Properties


SILFOAM® SE 4260 can be applied in a broad range of applications.
In particular it is used in the oil & gas industry for drilling fluids.
SILFOAM® SE 4260 is applicable as internal antifoam agent in the drilling fluid to control foam.
It is also applicable as defoamer for addition on-demand.

After extended storage or if visible separation occurs, we recommend briefly stirring the product.
As a guideline, we suggest a stirring time of 10–30 minutes at a speed of 200 rpm.

Excessive shear should be avoided, as high shear forces may cause the emulsion to break.

Preliminary compatibility and stability tests should be performed on the system to be defoamed.
The amount to add to liquid formulations depends on the desired degree of foam control, but usually is between 0.1 and 2%.
If feed pumps are used, they should be of the low shear-force type.

Storage

The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
