SILFOAM® SE 2264
SILFOAM® SE 2264 is a low- to medium viscosity, waterdispersible silicone antifoam emulsion formulated with a nonionic emulsifier system.
Properties
SILFOAM® SE 2264 prevents foaming (act as an antifoam) and destroys existing foam (acts as defoamer) in a large number of aqueous systems.
It exhibits excelent storage stability and is suitable for use in applications, where silicones are typically considered critical, such as:
- PVC degassing
- Manufacture and processing of polymer dispersions for textiles, paper, paints and surface coatings, as well as adhesives
- Cooling lubricants
- Textile formulations

Application details
The typical dosage is in the range of 0.02 to 0.5 % and is best determined by preliminary tests.
SILFOAM® SE 2264 may be dosed undiluted, as its emulsion form ensures adequate dispersion.
If dilution is required, we recommend preparing the diluted product by slowly stirring SILFOAM® SE 2264 into cold water.
Diluted solutions should be consumed promptly, as increasing dilution accelerates the tendency toward phase separation.
A 1:1 dilution with water remains stable for several days.
Following prolonged storage, or if any separation is observed, the product should be briefly stirred before use.
As a guideline, a stirring time of 10-30 minutes at approximately 200 rpm is recommended.
Avoid excessive shear, as high shear forces may destabilize or break the emulsion.

Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
