SILFOAM® SD 882

SILFOAM® SD 882 is an anhydrous, low viscosity antifoam agent which spontaneously forms a fine dispersion when added to water or highly polar systems. The degree of organomodification makes SILFOAM® SD 882 control negative effects, e.g., surface defects and separation tendencies.

Application

SILFOAM® SD 882 exhibits excellent defoaming and degassing properties in:

  • manufacturing of dispersions
  • rendering dispersions and latices low foaming
  • defoaming textile auxiliaries
  • defoaming paints and varnishes
  • defoaming cooling lubricants
  • rendering adhesives low foaming

Processing

The exact amount to be added must be determinded in preliminary tests. We recommend starting with amounts between 0.1% and 0.5%.

Generally, the product should be added as it is, as its self-dispersing properties will usually ensure an adequate and homogeneous distribution.

If SILFOAM® SD 882 is diluted with water, the resultant dispersion must be used quickly.

After extended storage or if visible separation occurs, we recommend briefly stirring the product.
As a guideline, we suggest a stirring time of 10–30 minutes at a speed of 200 rpm.

Storage

The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label.

Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
