SILFOAM® eco SRE

SILFOAM® eco SRE is an antifoam emulsion which contains 20% active ingredient and 33% solids. It is a versatile antifoam that is comparatively rich in emulsifier but is nonetheless easily metered because it has a relatively low viscosity.

Since SILFOAM® eco SRE also possesses high resistance to alkalis and acids, it may further be used in a wide range of applications in which pH is critical.

In manufacturing SILFOAM® eco SRE, 100 % of the fossil-based raw materials are substituted or compensated by renewable raw materials (biomethanol) based on a REDcert² mass balance approach audited by TÜV NORD.

Properties

Specific features of SILFOAM® eco SRE

  • Emulsions
  • Technical grade

SILFOAM® eco SRE has proved ideal for tackling foam in textile auxiliaries and processes, for incorporation into cooling lubricants based on mineral oils, for separation of monomers from dispersions and conversion of dispersion into derivatives.

SILFOAM® eco SRE is a useful auxiliary for combating foam generated in surfactant containing formulations employed in the most diverse areas, such as the agrochemicals (plant protection agents), cleaners and petrochemicals industries.

SILFOAM® eco SRE is also an efficient defoamer for treating waste water.

Processing

SILFOAM® eco SRE is a low-viscosity emulsion, it can be metered readily, with stable dispersions easily attainable in high-viscosity formulations. In low viscosity products, preliminary compatibility and stability tests should be performed on the system to be defoamed. The amount to add to liquid formulations depends on the desired degree of foam control, but usually lies between 0.1 and 2 %.

If SILFOAM® eco SRE is to be added during a process, we recommend prediluting it with cold water in a ratio of 1:1 to 1:10. These diluted emulsions have a lower storage stability and should be processed as close in time as possible. If feed pumps are used, they should be of the low shear force type.

Storage

The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label.

Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
