Nothing Should Remain, If Possible

Scars are a part of life. What should not be a part of life are the psychological or physical impacts that come with them. Hypertrophic scars or keloids often have a cosmetic impact, cause itchiness or restrict mobility. We have an effective remedy for these: silicones formulated as gels and creams for treating developing or existing scars or as the base material for scar sheets.

Our experts will be happy to advise you.

From Birth To Body Art

Whether necessitated by surgery or as the result of voluntary skin trauma, scars are unsightly reminders of all kinds of interventions. But they can be robbed of their debilitating power through the use of scar plasters or gels containing high-quality WACKER silicones. No matter how diverse the application areas for scar sheets and gels are, one thing never changes: the sooner they are applied, the better.

A Section Is For Life

Caesarean sections and mastectomies require large incisions – and effective follow-up treatment of deep scars.

Beauty Under The Knife

Aesthetics is the goal of any plastic surgery. So, it is all the more important to keep scarring to a minimum after a cosmetic operation.

Burned, Injured, Treated

In the case of burns, scalds or other, deep injuries, the right scar care is key to skin rehabilitation.

Cometh The Tattoo, Cometh The Scar

One problem disappears, another one surfaces: acne, tattoos and tattoo removal often cause scarring that requires extensive treatment.

The Basis Of Effective Scar Care: High-Performance Silicones From WACKER

Two Modes Of Action, One Outcome: Less Scarring, More Healthy Skin

Silicone gel scar sheets are particularly hydrophobic. They increase hydration of the wound base, maintain an optimal water content in the epidermis and boost permeability to oxygen. Cytokine and fibroblast activity is reduced and, ultimately, overproduction of collagen is prevented. The outcome is that hypertrophic scars and keloids are less likely to form. Redness is reduced.

Given that oxygen also promotes wound healing, silicone gel sheets are designed to have high gas permeability. Oxygen reaches the surface of the skin more easily, inhibiting the formation of new blood vessels and tissue growth. In short: A high oxygen level reduces scarring.

Responsible For Adhesion – And Intact Skin

Silicone gel sheets can be removed atraumatically from the skin. This prevents further damage to the wound or scar area through the stripping of skin cells. The skin does not come under additional stress and so is able to concentrate on healing the wound. The materials of choice to use in silicone gel sheets for gentle but effective care of wounds and scars are SILPURAN® silicone adhesives from WACKER.

Giving Everything To Do A Lot: BELSIL® SILICONE ELASTOMERS

The unique crosslinking resin vinyltrimethylsiloxysilicate (yellow structures) ensures that scar gels form films, resist water and offer good transfer resistance.

BELSIL® silicone elastomer gels from WACKER offer compelling advantages and functions when it comes to scar gels. They flatten and soften scars, retain the skin's moisture levels, and boost hydration of the stratum corneum while preserving its breathability. They also protect the scarred skin from bacteria and reduce the discomfort associated with scars, such as itchiness and tenderness.

Important instructions for use: Scar gels may only be applied to closed wounds.

Ideal for cosmetic scar care

The ingredients of the BELSIL® product range are suitable for cosmetic applications, but not for pharmaceutical applications.

  • BELSIL® products comply with the Cosmetics Regulation, are manufactured according to EFfCI GMP standards and meet the requirements of ISO 22716:2007
  • BELSIL® products cannot be used for formulations that are manufactured and advertised in accordance with pharmaceutical regulations
