President of WACKER Greater China Paul Lindblad Received Magnolia Memorial Award of Shanghai

Yesterday, Paul Lindblad, President of WACKER Greater China, received Shanghai’s “Magnolia Memorial Award 2016” for his continuous contribution to the economic and social development of the region. Starting from 1989, Shanghai Municipal Government honors “Magnolia Memorial Award” every year to recognize expatriates who live in Shanghai and contribute to the city’s economic performance, international relations and community development.

Mr. Zhang Xiaosong, Director of The Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai People’s Government, bestowed the badge and certificate to Paul Lindblad.

Mr. Zhang Xiaosong, Director of The Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai People’s Government, bestowed the badges and certificates to Paul Lindblad and other 49 award winners yesterday in Jingan Shangri-La Hotel.

“I feel greatly honored to receive Shanghai’s Magnolia Memorial Award. This is not only my personal honor, it also stands for the local community’s full acknowledgement and high recognition of WACKER ‘s enthusiastic engagement in Shanghai’s growth and development”, Paul Lindblad said on receiving the award. “China is the largest single market of WACKER Group. As the place where WACKER Greater China’s headquarter and the regional R&D center is located, Shanghai plays an important role towards WACKER’s development in China. In line with city’s initiative to be the center of science and technological center, WACKER will further strengthen the local R&D capacity in Shanghai R&D center, so as to lead the long-term development of WACKER in China, and continuously contribute to the rising living quality and the sustainable development of the society.”

Paul Lindblad has been working in WACKER Group for over 25 years, having assumed different responsibilities in the US, Singapore and Germany successively. January 2013, Paul Lindblad was appointed President of WACKER Greater China, taking charging of WACKER’s overall business development in China. Before that, he was the Executive Board Member of Siltronic AG, a subsidiary company wholly owned by WACKER Group.

In addition to his responsibility in WACKER, Paul Lindblad is also the Board Director of the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (AICM), where he actively pushes forward the cooperation with Chinese stake holders to promote Responsible Care, a global chemical industry’s initiative towards continuous improvement in terms of environment, health and safety (EHS), and to share best practices for the EHS improvement of the Chinese chemical industry.

Headquartered in Munich, Germany, WACKER is the major international manufacturer in silicon chemistry and ethylene-based polymer business. It is also an innovation-driven company with a history of over a hundred years. WACKER has been in China for more than 20 years, with accumulated investment over €600 million. In 2015, WACKER generated sales of €1.34 billion and sourced a total of 3.9 billion RMB in China.
