“The extent of damage caused by the flooding is so severe that it is only natural for WACKER to help quickly and unbureaucratically here,” said Christian Hartel, Personnel Director. “As one of the largest employers in eastern Bavaria, we want to assist the people in this region the best we can.”
Dieter Gilles, Burghausen site manager, announced policies on leaves for flood-affected employees and staff volunteers. Thus, if necessary, employees who are directly affected or helping family members can get a leave from work of up to five days. There will be additional policies in cases of hardship for those directly affected. Volunteers can be granted a leave of up to three days. “Many of our employees have achieved a great deal in the past several days,” emphasized Gilles. “For example, WACKER employees have served as members of volunteer fire departments, the Red Cross, the Technisches Hilfswerk (federal relief agency) and emergency services. Our own plant fire department has also provided active support.” The leaves were intended to account for the employees’ extraordinary circumstances in the flood’s aftermath, the site manager explained.
