PCHi 2015: WACKER Showcases Novel Silicone Products for Skin Care and Hair Care Applications

BELSIL^® EG 2 is a newly developed silicone elastomer gel, which can be used as a multi-functional active ingredient for skin-care applications and decorative cosmetic products. It is easy to distribute on the skin and improves the sensoric properties of skin care and make up formulations significantly, imparting a smoother and more supple feeling to the skin. The silicone forms a soft and water-repellent film that adheres well to the skin without becoming sticky. The gel also imparts an extraordinary soft and silky texture to the skin.

Thanks to its favorable film-forming and adhesion properties, BELSIL^® EG 2 makes cosmetic formulations more water-repellent and transfer-resistant, thus providing long wear benefits. BELSIL^® EG 2 is compatible with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients and therefore offers maximum formulation flexibility. It also allows easy incorporation of pigments, which makes it especially suitable for sun care products and cosmetic products containing high level of powder, like BB and CC creams. It also improves the feeling of the skin and helps spreading the powder uniformly.

BELSIL^® 551 HP 2 Provides Optimum Conditioning Effect for Personal Cleansing Products

BELSIL^® 551 HP 2 is a creative conditioning agent for personal cleansing products, such as body wash, bar soap, facial cleanser and shampoo formulations. It is a nonionic microemulsion, containing 21 percent of PEG-7 amodimethicone and hydroxypropyl cyclodextrin as key ingredients. Its unique chemical composition and ratio makes it a multi-functional additive conditioner that significantly improves the performance of personal cleansing products.

The most important application field of BELSIL^® 551 HP 2 is in liquid body wash and bar soap. In the process of lathering, the foam of a piece of soap formulated with BELSIL^® 551 HP 2 becomes creamier and more luxurious. BELSIL^® 551 HP 2 also helps to remove residual surfactants used in body soap formulations. BELSIL_^® 551 HP 2 has a long-lasting moisturizing effect and provides a soft skin feel, reducing any kind of irritation or stickiness caused by the soap. BELSIL^® 551 HP 2 also helps to release the fragrance of the soap slowly, thus prolonging its pleasant effect.

BELSIL^® ADM 6102 E Provides Excellent Softness in Hair-Care Products

Another focus at WACKER is a new hair-conditioning agent, with the trade name BELSIL^® ADM 6102 E. This new product is an aqueous macroemulsion of an aminofunctional silicone. The structure of the resulting silicone active agent has been optimized to deliver excellent hair-conditioning properties; allowing the typical effects of silicone to unfold even at low concentrations. This product adheres well to the surface of the hair, does not crosslink and makes hair easy to comb while providing excellent softness. Even severely damaged hair has a pleasant, silky soft feel after treatment with BELSIL^® ADM 6102 E, thus regaining its healthy, natural look.

This slightly acidic, milky white silicone emulsion is suitable for formulating conditioning shampoos, rinse-off conditioners, hair treatments, masks, two-phase pump sprays and as a conditioning additive in hair dyes. BELSIL^® ADM 6102 E can generally be used at low concentrations, as the silicone in the formulations is efficiently deposited onto the surface of the hair.

BELSIL^® WO 5000: a partlybiodegradable Emulsifier

BELSIL^® WO 5000 was especially developed for water-in-oil and water-in-silicone formulations, and is offered as a solution in a low viscose, linear dimethicone fluid. This silicone polymer is synthesized in a renewable, natural, sugar-based component and is therefore in part rapidly biodegradable It is a mild and gentle emulsifier, improving the storage and temperature stability, and providing a soft and velvety feel to skin. BELSIL^® WO 5000 is ideal for formulating skincare and suncare products as well as decorative cosmetics.
