Surface Treatment
WACKER offers different solutions for protecting the open-pore structure of concrete or screed floors against soiling. Silane-terminated SILRES® BS grades and PRIMIS® siliconized, acrylic-based hybrid dispersions can be used as film-forming anti-stain treatments.
SILRES® BS grades based on silicone-fluorine technology offer invisible protection while pure silicone SILRES® grades add color enhancement to the protective benefits.
On wall plasters, PRIMIS® dispersions can be used as protective coating and finish in specialty applications such as Venetian plaster. With this portfolio, it is possible to realize very effective anti-stain protection for almost any mineral surface from concrete to natural stone.
SILRES® BS Binders for Concrete Flooring Applications and Stone Carpets
Special SILRES® BS alpha-silane-terminated polyethers based on WACKER’s proprietary alpha-silane technology are ideal as binders for both ready-to-use impregnating agents and thin coatings for cement-bound floors. They provide excellent stain protection superior to conventional impregnating agents and have a color-intensifying effect. SILRES® BS 6920, our innovative binder for stone carpets, is easy to apply, is fast-curing and offers high mechanical strength.
SILRES® BS Binders for Concrete Flooring Applications
These SILRES® BS grades cure on contact with moisture. Their chemical structure has been optimized to achieve low viscosity. As a result, the binder penetrates deep into the pores of a cement-bound floor, filling the pores completely and forming a thin, glossy film on the surface. After the binder has cured, the pores are impermeable to everyday substances containing water or oil. The new binder therefore offers highly effective stain protection. Substances can be removed without lasting stains even if left on the surface for a prolonged time.

Binder for impregnating agents or thin dirt-repelling coatings for
SILRES® BS 6920 for Stone Carpets
SILRES® BS 6920 is an innovative binder for stone carpets. Once the binder has cured, it possesses the high mechanical strength needed for holding the pebbles in the stone carpet together. Stone carpets bonded with SILRES® BS 6920 do not seal the surface but form a layer that is breathable and permeable to water vapor, allowing moisture from the substrate to escape. At the same time, water can drain off through the open-pored coating instead of collecting on the surface. If required, the carpet can be sealed with a topcoat.

Binder for stone carpet floors in
SILRES® BS for Invisible Impregnation
For easy-to-clean protective coatings that leave the surface unchanged, WACKER offers two solutions based on SILRES® BS: a solvent-based yet tin-free mixture and a water-based formulation. Both provide easy-to-clean protection against water, oil or dirt without changing the surface appearance. In contrast to treatment with film-forming coatings, it does not affect vapor permeability. The substrate stays “breathable” and keeps its natural touch.

SILRES® BS for Color Enhancement
Certain SILRES® BS grades not only provide protection, they can also be used to enhance surfaces. The 100% silane/siloxane mixtures bring out natural surface colors brighter and deeper, with gloss or matt effects. They can easily be applied by roller, sponge, brush or pump-style sprayer.

PRIMIS® Dispersions for Impregnating Agents
Under the trademark PRIMIS®, WACKER offers, among other things, siliconized, acrylic-based hybrid dispersions that enhance the stain and abrasion resistance of mineral floorings. Grades with a low Tg reduce the consumption of film forming agents.
