Improved battery safety with silicone resins
Novel EV battery safety concepts rely on silicone resins. Silicone-resin-based fiber composites offer an unprecedented combination of fire resistance and thermal insulation.
In the event of fire, they react with fillers and fibers to form ceramic materials. When used as battery housings or heat shields, they can protect the vehicle passenger compartment from the high temperatures that occur during thermal runaway.
