GENIOSIL® 8200 is an organo-silicone compound with methoxysilyl groups and organofunctional epoxy groups.

Eigenschaften
GENIOSIL® 8200 belongs to the group of oligomeric epoxy-functional siloxanes with hydrolyzable methoxysilyl groups. It is a clear, yellowish liquid.
In the presence of moisture, silanol groups are formed by hydrolysis and the release of methanol, which may then react to form longer siloxanes and can chemically bind to inorganic substrates. The epoxy group of GENIOSIL® 8200 can react with nucleophiles such as alcohols or amines with ring opening, possibly acid- or base-catalyzed. As a bifunctional molecule, GENIOSIL® 8200 can thus act as a molecular bridge between inorganic and organic materials.
