ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P is a one-part, neutral-curing, low modulus silicone sealant with outstanding adhesion properties, long shelf live, and very good working properties for construction and sanitary applications, especially for sealing natural substrates as granit or marble.

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P cures at room temperature in the presence of atmospheric moisture to give a permanently flexible silicone rubber.

Properties

  •  100% silicone
  •  suitable for areas with high humidity, e.g., sanitary areas
  •  long shelf-life
  •  especially suitable for sealing natural stones such as marble, granite, sandstone, and quarzite; no staining of joint edges
  •  primerless adhesion to most materials
  •  non-corrosive to metals
  •  suitable for alkaline substrates such as concrete, mortar, and fibrous concrete
  •  almost odorless
  •  non-sag
  •  high abrasion resistance

Specific features of ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P

  • Alkoxy-cure

Application fields

  • application on natural stones, e.g., marble, granite, sandstone, and quarzite
  • sealing of connecting and expansion joints in the building industry
  • sealing of joints in sanitary applications
  • sealing of joints between glazing and supporting structures (frames, transoms, mullions)

Processing

Surfaces that will come into contact with the sealant must be dry, clean, and free of dust, dirt, rust, oil, or similar contaminants. Non-porous surfaces should be cleaned using a solvent and a clean, lint-free cotton cloth. The area must then be immediately wiped dry with a second clean cloth before the solvent evaporates.

It is the responsibility of the user to test the compatibility of the sealant with the adjoining materials. Incompatible substances like coating materials (e.g., paints, varnishes, and glazes) or organic plasticizer containing rubbers (e.g., EPDM, butyl, and neoprene) can lead to discoloration or other impairments like loss of adhesion of the sealant. Substances that come into direct contact with the sealant after application, such as cleaning agents, or indirect contact through outgassing, can impair the function of the sealant or alter its appearance.

Due to the wide variety of possible materials and substrates, especially with plastics, WACKER cannot make any general statements regarding compatibility or adhesion. In case of doubt, users must carry out their own preliminary tests.

A decrease in temperature or humidity, as well as restricted air circulation, can significantly extend the time required for complete curing.

Certification

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P is certified and classified according to

  • EN 15651-1, class 25 LM F-EXT-INT-CC
  • EN 15651-2, class 25 LM G-CC

Adhesion

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P adheres excellently to most substrates commonly found in sanitary areas—even without prior treatment with primers—such as glass, tiles, ceramics, glazed tiles, enamel, and clinker, as well as metals like aluminum, steel, zinc, and copper, painted, stained, or impregnated wood, and many plastics.

Users must carry out their own tests due to the great variety of substances. The adhesion can be improved in many cases by pretreatment of the substrates with a primer. If adhesion difficulties arise please contact our technical service.

Restrictions on use

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P must not be used as a secondary sealant in insulating glass units or structural glazing or bonding.

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P is not suitable for sealing of aquaria or for long-term use under water.

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P s not suitable for food grade applications where the joints are likely to come in contact with food.

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P is not suitable for use as a mirror adhesive.

Storage

The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
