LMPs: Beneficial Bacteria
They float in a murky soup of nutrients in huge steel tanks: life forms too small to be seen by the naked eye. These are bacterial strains which grow and reproduce. Wacker Biotech uses them to manufacture pharmaceutical products: so-called live microbial products (LMPs) – a promising class of active ingredients.
Research & Development
R&D is a top priority at Biosolutions. Ever since the 1980s, our biologists, chemists and engineers have been busy developing biotech products and processes. Today, we develop production processes for high-quality bioactive substances and are continuously improving our production systems for pharmaceutical proteins.
In our new WACKER Biotechnology Center, integrated into the Group's central research site in Munich, we focus on research in manufacturing processes for biopharmaceuticals and ingredients for food and dietary supplements. One of its main purposes is to reduce the time from lab-based research and product development to implementation.
