Damping

WACKER silicone fluids and liquid and solid silicone rubbers combine ideal damping properties with high durability and reliability. Vibration Damping

ELASTOSIL^® silicone rubber grades provide ideal damping in all climates. They are particularly effective at damping mechanical vibration in vehicles. Their damping effect also serves to reduce noise. WACKER silicone rubbers are specially designed to cancel out the frequencies at which undesirable vibrations occur.

Torsional Damping

Silicone fluids in the WACKER^® AK STAB series are essential components of fluid-filled torsion dampers. By eliminating radial vibration, they avoid catastrophic resonance that can lead to fractured crankshafts and drive shafts in ICE vehicles. In many instances, the heat-stable silicone fluids are an even better damping alternative than mechanical solutions. This applies especially to the powerful huge engines of ships and trains, diesel-powered electric generators, commercial and agricultural vehicles.

Exhaust-Pipe Suspensions

ELASTOSIL^® solid silicone rubbers are used to mount exhaust pipes. Their job is to absorb mechanical vibrations and keep the exhaust pipe safely away from the underbody, without transmitting heat. And because they are so efficient at damping, they also reduce noise levels. WACKER silicone rubbers are specially designed to cancel out the frequencies at which undesirable vibrations occur.
