VINNAPAS® polymer binders improve the adhesion and flexibility of mortars, plasters and joint compounds and provide for a robust bond between boards and coating systems. They increase strength, reduce cracking and ensure a permanently smooth surface.
SILRES® BS silicone fluids, silicone resins, silicone powders, siliconates, silanes and emulsions provide gypsum and fiber-cement boards with excellent water repellency and lasting protection against moisture.
Silicones for fiber-cement boards
Fiber-cement and backer boards as well as fire-resistant boards are treated with SILRES® BS products to reduce capillary water absorption. This water-repellent treatment is preferably applied during production (integral treatment) or as a surface impregnation afterwards.

Silicones for gypsum wallboards and gypsum fiberboards
Thanks to its favorable carbon footprint, gypsum is a contributor to sustainable construction. However, it dissolves in water and so is susceptible to water penetration and water-related damage. The moisture sensitivity of gypsum is counteracted by applying SILRES® BS products as a water-repellent treatment. The silicones and the gypsum crystals react to provide a level of protection conferred superior to that afforded by organic water-repellent agents.

Dispersible polymer powders and silicone powder additives for gypsum plasters and joint compounds
As binders in gypsum plasters and joint compounds, VINNAPAS® dispersible polymer powders improve manual and machine application, reduce water absorption and ensure smooth, crack-free surfaces. Plasticizer-free grades allow the formulation of end products with low emission values.
SILRES® POWDER G is an additive for gypsum-based joint compounds: it is a solid-form active substance with low VOC values. SILRES® POWDER G can reduce water absorption in gypsum products by over 80 % at an addition rate of just 0.2 wt%.

The benefits of VINNAPAS® dispersible polymer powders:
A commercial gypsum joint compound (left bar) is mixed with a certain proportion of SILRES® POWDER G. The corresponding test specimens are then immersed in water for two hours. The height of the bars shows the extent of water absorption by the test specimens in weight-percent.
