Technical Center Tsukuba is where formulations aimed at customers in Japan are improved and brought to production readiness. Nine test laboratories help to match the properties of the substances to the required profiles and ensure a clean start to production.

Optimized silicone formulations for different applications

In particular, parameter-relevant silicone-based formulations are optimized, including silicone emulsions and fluids, silicone elastomers (LSR, RTV and HTV) as well as sealants, adhesives and bonding systems.

Solutions for thermal management, notably silicone-based thermal interface materials for gap filler and potting applications, are also optimized. This allows targeted improvements to be made in respect of heat dissipation, process windows and long-term stability.

The solutions are designed for industries that impose strict demands on material performance and process reliability, such as the electronics and construction industries, as well as for consumer-related applications, such as household, personal care, textiles, release coatings and sealants.

In the case of LSR, RTV-2 and HTV, for example, we test the pot life, flow properties and curing profile under realistic conditions to ensure that metering and potting function reliably and reproducibly during production runs.

Realistic preparation and evaluation of the mixing and processing conditions, as well as the use of suitable test equipment, ensure that laboratory results can be reliably scaled up to pilot and production levels. This creates comparability, reduces risk during ramp-up and increases process reliability.
