Free Eye and Health camp for CBC, ECG and Eye checkups

Jul 2017 Mumbai / India

Wacker Metroark Chemicals, a JV between Wacker Chemie AG and Metroark Chemicals Pvt. Ltd, conducted an Eye and Health camp on 4th July 2017 for the holistic development of the poor in rural areas. More than 300 visitors attended this free Camp, which included CBC, ECG and Eye checkups.

“A healthy family means a healthy society, and healthy society means a healthy nation. As a part of the corporate social responsibility of Wacker Metroark Chemicals, we would like to conduct at least one free health camp a year, targeting those who do not have easy access to healthcare, an expensive commodity in this country. We at Wacker have taken up this initiative to spread awareness of health and fitness amongst rural people of all ages and from all walks of life.”

Mr. Manoj Shetty, Vice President at Wacker Metroark

The day long Camp saw the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of visitors. A team of Specialist Doctors, Consultants, Nurses and volunteers conducted free consultations throughout. The camp included tests for blood sugar, ECG and Eye checkups. This was followed by a giveaway of free spectacles, which over 200 people availed of. Also provided were free cataract operations for around 20 people.

For the past 70 years, Wacker Metroark is the leading provider of quality silicone products for India’s many industries, playing a vital role in the development of the nation. We hope that with such CSR initiatives, we can also serve the poor and the needy, who are not in position to afford medical treatment.

Donate to Educate

Kolkata / India

“Donate to Educate" a CSR Initiative by Wacker Metroark Chemicals, a JV between Wacker Chemie AG and Metroark Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. Concludes Successfully.

“Donate to Educate”, the CSR project organized by the Wacker Metroark Chemicals (henceforth WMC), was successfully held at Adarsha Free Primary School, Uttarchandi Free Primary School and Kriparampur Free Primary School , amidst a gathering of the students, parents, teachers and other well-wishers. The delegates from WMC were warmly welcomed by the teachers and the students of the school and given a bouquet of flowers as a token of love.

WMC representatives then distributed high quality desks and benches for the students, a facility they had been doing without for quite some time. Previously, classes were being held with students sitting on the floor with their textbooks open on small mats, something that rankled our team when they first visited this school a few months ago.

Thus was born the Education Support initiative, which distributed over a million desks and benches to poorly resourced public secondary schools across the region. The aim of this initiative is to continue to provide resources to these schools ranging from study books and equipment, to infrastructure facilities. The School Infrastructure project is but a small example.

Children are a focal point of the new CSR initiatives by WMC, and this project is one of many that aims to provide for the still disadvantaged future of the country.
