WACKER Presents BELSIL^® Series Silicone Products at PCHi 2026

As summer approaches, consumer demand for skin care and sun protection products is on the rise. In hot and humid conditions, people increasingly desire weightless, refreshing makeup, and they also expect greater protective power and a pleasant feel from sunscreens. BELSIL^® WO 5001 and BELSIL^® VS 38 were developed to meet these needs. Whether it's for ultra-light base makeup or high-performance sun protection, both ingredients offer ideal solutions to help create summer-ready, high-performance products. Meanwhile, another product – BELSIL^® EG 6002 – brings a uniquely silky, powdery touch and soft-matte finish to premium cosmetics and skin care formulations, fulfilling modern consumers' expectations for a high-end sensorial experience.

BELSIL^® WO 5001 is a nonionic silicone emulsifier specifically designed for water-in-oil （W/O） and water-in-silicone （W/Si） formulations. When combined with polyglycerol emulsifiers, BELSIL^® WO 5001 can be used to formulate not only high-viscosity creams but also stable low-viscosity emulsions. Compared to traditional W/O systems, incorporating BELSIL^® WO 5001 significantly improves the texture and skin feel of water-in-oil emulsions—enhancing spreadability and making creams feel lighter, more like a refreshing oil-in-water emulsion.

One of the key highlights of BELSIL^® WO 5001 is its excellent pigment and inorganic UV filter dispersibility. This makes it especially well-suited for color cosmetics such as foundations and concealers, as well as high-SPF sunscreen formulations. Adding BELSIL^® WO 5001 helps disperse inorganic UV filters like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, preventing the pigments from agglomerating and thereby boosting the protective efficacy of sun care formulations. At the same time, it noticeably improves the spreadability and stability of sunscreens, reducing any post-application whitening and leaving the skin feeling fresh and natural.

BELSIL^® VS 38 is an octyl silicone oil characterized by its extremely low surface tension, allowing it to spread effortlessly over the skin. It gives sun care and makeup formulations excellent stability and a pleasantly refreshing, non-greasy skin feel. Thanks to its molecular structure, BELSIL^® VS 38 is highly compatible with a wide range of polar oils and UV filters, and it can effectively help disperse pigment powders, significantly improving a product's spreadability and finish. Formulations containing BELSIL^® VS 38 produce base makeup and sunscreen products with a more natural, translucent look avoiding sticky residues. This versatile ingredient can be used in all kinds of formulations—from facial lotions, sunscreens, and liquid foundations to hair oils—imparting a light, silky touch and long-lasting comfort to the final product.

BELSIL^® EG 6002 is a high-molecular-weight, crosslinked silicone elastomer gel composed mainly of polydimethylsiloxane and a polydimethylsiloxane/vinyldimethylsiloxane crosspolymer, swollen in a low-viscosity silicone oil. This product spreads easily on the skin and imparts an outstanding non-oily, silky-powdery feel to formulations. The low-viscosity silicone oil component forms a light, non-sticky, breathable protective film on the skin, lending a gentle matte effect; meanwhile, the crosslinked three-dimensional elastomer network provides a luxurious, velvet-smooth sensation. In addition, the presence of volatile silicones means that after application, they evaporate quickly, leaving the skin feeling refreshingly clean and free of shine with a dry, powder-soft finish. With these exceptional benefits, BELSIL^® EG 6002 can be widely used in sunscreen products, moisturizers, eye creams and other skincare formulations, as well as in makeup applications such as liquid foundations, primers, concealers, and velvet-matte lip lacquers, to significantly enhance the tactile qualities and sensory appeal of products.

Notably, BELSIL^® EG 6002 is manufactured in China — WACKER’s newly built elastomer production line in Zhangjiagang is up and running, supplying this product to the market. This development greatly improves supply chain efficiency and enables us to better meet the needs of customers in China and across the region.
