LIOSIL® MR 1003
SILICONE SOFTENER EMULSION
LIOSIL® MR 1003 is a nonionic micro emulsion of a reactive, aminofunctional silicone fluid.
Owing to its special structure and orientation on cellulose fibers, LIOSIL® MR 1003 is characterized by an excellent soft hand and a readily hydrophilic character.
- Excellent soft hand combined with good hydrophilicity
- Very easily dilutable with water
- Low viscosity
- High substantivity on cellulose fibers
- Permeable to water vapor
The product amount should be tailored to the particular tissue being used. It is generally recommended that the tissue should be coated with between 2 and 8wt.% of LIOSIL® MR 1003. Roll coating is recommended for LIOSIL® MR 1003. If the product is applied by spraying technology, one of the following two criteria should be observed: 1. The atmospheric particle distribution should comply with SEHSC recommendations (see "guidance for aerosol application of silicone-based materials"), i.e. the average particle size should be larger than 30 µm, and less than 1 % of the particles should be smaller than 10 µm. 2. If aerosols are formed we recommend relating to the silicone fluid not to exceed a TLV of 0.2 mg/m³ air which is recommended by ACGIH for mineral oil mist.
The use of the emulsion is recommended for all conventional tissue types such as toilet paper, paper handkerchiefs or cosmetic wipes which may benefit from a certain soft feel. The emulsion can be combined with other organic softeners, too, provided an adequate compatibility test has been performed. If substantial foaming occurs during processing, we recommend our WACKER SILFOAM® antifoam agents.
The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label.
Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
Emulsions showing signs of creaming should be agitated before use to assure uniform consistency.
