PULPSIL® 246 C US
PULPSIL® 246 C US is a highly viscous, relatively alkaline resistant, extremely efficient, solvent and water-free silicone antifoam compound, especially developed for use in pulp mills.

When used in a suitable formulation like an emulsion, PULPSIL® 246 C is an excellent antifoam agent, especially recommended for the use in different pulp processing steps like washing, screening, bleaching and waste water treatment.
PULPSIL® 246 C US is suitable for use as a defoamer in pulp and paper and/or pulp and paper treatment at level of 0.2 kg/metric ton pulp under the following sections of FDA 21 CFR:
- 176.170 (Components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty foods)
- 176.180 (Components of paper and paperboard in contact with dry foods)
- 176.200 (Defoaming agents used in coatings)
- 176.210 (Defoaming agents used in the manufacture of paper and paperboard)
PULPSIL® 246 C US is suitable for use under the recommendation XXXVI of the BfR. Regulatory sanctioning of the ingredients in a product does not imply that the finished product manufactured from those ingredients is considered safe by regulatory bodies. Responsibility for compliance with the above mentioned requirements resides with the manufacturer of the finished products.
Product is thixotropic. Weak stirring is necessary to reduce the viscosity. We recommend the following equipment from Inotec GmbH:
inoJET 300 / inoJET 350 (for IBC-container)
inoJET 370/inoJET 380 (for vats)
For high efficiency it is necessary that PULPSIL® 246 C US be well dispersed in the foaming medium. Therefore PULPSIL® 246 C US can be added only in neat form if high amounts of surfactants and/or high shear forces ensure a good dispersion. Preferably PULPSIL® 246 C US should be added in emulsion form. The use as a booster to organic defoamers is also possible, but sufficient compatibility of PULPSIL® 246 C US with the organic system has to be guaranteed.
Store in a dry and cool place.
The "Best use before end date" of each batch is shown on the Certificate of Analysis. Storage beyond the date specified on the Certificate of Analysis does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
