ETONIS® 7260 A

ETONIS® 7260 A is a ready-to-use polymer dispersion for special concrete applications, especially for open-pored concrete (sound-absorbing and pervious concrete).



Properties

ETONIS® 7260 A enhances the properties of open-pored concrete. It makes fresh concrete easier to process. The viscosity of the cement paste is increased, which means it is less prone to leakage during concrete compaction. The paste envelopes the aggregate particles and does not run off them. Concrete modified with ETONIS® 7260 A exhibits ideal compaction characteristics, with the result that the fresh concrete has very good compaction and non-sag properties (it remains non-sag even if it has a somewhat soft consistency). The processing window for the fresh concrete is extended (maintaining the degree of compaction). Concrete formulators can use ETONIS® 7260 A with plasticizers or superplasticizers. The hardened concrete shows higher compressive, flexural and splitting tensile strengths. ETONIS® 7260 A significantly increases frost and road-salt resistance, improving the durability of open-pored concrete. ETONIS® 7260 A does not contain any defoaming agent.

In the mixing stage, ETONIS® 7260 A may be blended with fresh concrete either directly or together with the mixing water. ETONIS® 7260 A allows low water/cement ratios to be used and its stabilizing effect means segregation of the concrete does not occur during processing. Adjustments to technical requirements are necessary at the construction site. Mixing facilities, transport trucks and other equipment are simply cleaned with water. When calculating the water/cement ratio, add the water content of ETONIS® 7260 A to the mixing water content of the concrete. When used as a bonding course, ETONIS® 7260 A should be applied to a well prepared (milled, blasted) substrate that is almost entirely dust free. ETONIS® 7260 A is sprayed, brushed or rolled on as a thin, uniform layer (dilution with water is possible). Once film formation is complete, the bonding course becomes transparent and the fresh concrete can be applied. Film formation is by drying, which usually takes a few hours (depending on weather conditions). As a result, preparing the bonding course is decoupled from installing the fresh concrete. Amounts Required Using ETONIS® 7260 A improves the properties of concrete, making it more durable. For concrete applications, ETONIS® 7260 A is usually applied in amounts of between 5 and 20 wt. %, relative to the cement content of the mixture. The amounts used for bonding courses are between 200 and 500 g/m2 , depending on the composition of the substrate.


ETONIS® 7260 A is particularly suitable in open-pored concrete (water-permeable, no-fines concrete), for both the bottom and top concrete courses. ETONIS® 7260 A is also suited as a bonding course between fresh concrete and hardened concrete (e.g. in whitetopping).

Packaging

Non-returnable PE drums of 150 kg capacity (standard dispatch quantity: only fully-loaded pallets à 750 kg), non-returnable containers of 1 t capacity and road tankers.

Storage

When the dispersion is stored in tanks, proper storage conditions must be maintained. The product has a shelf life of 6 months starting from the date of receipt if stored in the original, unopened containers at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Any longer periods for the maximum storage period that may be described in the Certificate of Analysis which accompanies each shipment of the product, take preference over this suggestion in which case the time period stated in the Certificate of Analysis shall be solely authoritative. Iron or galvanized iron containers and equipment are not recommended. Corrosion could result in discoloration of the dispersion or blends made from it in further processing. We therefore recommend the use of containers and equipment made of ceramic, rubberized or enameled materials, appropriately finished stainless steel, or plastic (rigid PVC, polyethylene or polyester resin). As polymer dispersions may tend to superficial film formation, skins or lumps may be formed during storage or transportation. A filtration process is thus recommended prior to utilization of the product. Preservation for Transport, Storage and further Processing The product is adequately preserved during transportation and storage if kept in the original, unopened containers. However, if it is transferred to storage tanks, the dispersion should be protected against microbial attack by adding a suitable preservative package. Measures should also be taken to ensure cleanliness of the tanks and pipes. In unstirred tanks, a layer of preservative-containing water should be sprayed onto the surface of the dispersion to prevent the formation of unwanted skin and possible attack by microorganisms. The thickness of this water layer should be < 5 mm for low viscosity dispersions and up to 10–20 mm for high viscosity products. Proper procedures – periodic tank cleaning and sanitization – must be set up in order to prevent microbial attack. Contact your biocide representative/supplier for further plant hygiene recommendations. Measures should be taken to ensure that only clean air enters the tank when the dispersion is removed. Finished products manufactured from polymer dispersions usually also require preservation. The type and scope of preservation will depend on the raw materials used and the anticipated sources of contamination. The compatibility with other components and the efficacy of the preservative should always be tested in the respective formulation. Preservative manufacturers will be able to advise you about the type and dosage of preservative required.
