POWERSOFT® AE 61

POWERSOFT® AE 61 is a concentrated emulsion of a reactive amino-modified silicone fluid and a base compound for the simple preparation of silicone macro emulsions.

Properties

Silicone macro emulsions based on POWERSOFT® AE 61 are particularly suitable for the impregnation of all kinds of fibers and textiles. They impart a very soft, drapable and elastic hand to a wide range of fiber materials such as cotton (CO), polyester (PES), viscose (CV) and their mixtures.

Treatment with POWERSOFT® AE 61 improves sewability, wash-and-wear properties, easy iron and crease recovery.

The effects resist to washing and dry cleaning.

POWERSOFT® AE 61 has very little effect on the degree of whiteness.

Generally, no adverse effect on the shade or colour fastness properties of coloured goods is observed.

Specific features of POWERSOFT® AE 61

  • Concentrate

Processing:

POWERSOFT® AE 61 emulsion concentrate can be diluted by simple mechanical mixing to form stable silicone macro emulsions and formulations.

Thanks to its high active ingredient concentration, POWERSOFT® AE 61 contributes to environmentally safe, cost effective material management (shipping and stockholding).

As it can be diluted in almost any proportions, it offers high flexibility for the preparation of high-grade silicone macro emulsions with an active ingredient concentration tailored to the particular application.

POWERSOFT® AE 61 preparations can be used either on their own or combined with resins and other finishes. In resin treatment, the addition of POWERSOFT® AE 61 increases the crease recovery angle and reduces abrasion.

Dilution proportions:

100 parts POWERSOFT® AE 61

100-400 parts demineralized water

0,23 parts 100% acetic acid

0,1 % preservative (0,2-0,5 parts)

To prepare dilutions and formulations of POWERSOFT® AE 61, gently stir in the required amount of demineralized water (avoiding high shear rates), either continuously or in portions.

Then add the precisely weighed amount of acetic acid and a suitable preservative.

Finally, continue stirring until the mixture is homogeneous and transfer it to the packaging container through an approx. 100 µm filter.

Dilutions formulated by this method have a shelf life of at least 3 months (see shelf life below).More dilute preparations or formulations with other active substances should be tested to ascertain their stability and shelf life. This is particularly important for formulations with anionic components.

Storage

The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label.

Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
