The WACKER India story came into being as part of WACKER's initiatives to bring its high quality products to all parts of the Globe. It established a presence in India in the early 90’s, just as the market opened up after deregulation. Present as a liaison office initially, Wacker established a permanent presence in India in 1998, with its Silicone division collaborating with a local market leader, Metroark Chemicals. This was followed by the incorporation of its Polymer & Biosolutions division in the late 2000’s under a wholly owned entity.
WACKER currently exists in India as two distinct legal entities – the 51% fully consolidated subsidiary, Wacker Metroark Chemicals (WMC) with its plant near Kolkata, as well as the 100% Subsidiary, Wacker Chemie India (WCIN).
Today WACKER India offers a highly specialized silicone portfolio for wide array of industries like consumer care, textile, paints & coatings, power along with a wide range of various dispersible polymer powders for the construction industry. It has also introduced innovative new products for the food and pharma industries under its Biosolutions range.

2. German Technology, Made in India
With its own production site for silicone products, as well as an extensive R&D setup for other divisions, a lot of what WACKER sells is “Made in India”, customizing global WACKER technology. Our Products meet all WACKER Quality requirements and are now exported worldwide.
3. No Compromise
Our Indian plant is certified by International agencies for Environment Management Systems and Quality Management Systems by means of ISO 14001 and 9001 certifications. As part of a German conglomerate, it is also bound by strict EHSS norms. In 2011, another plant was added for manufacturing of ready-to-use SILMIX® silicone elastomers. The plant is designed for an annual production volume of several thousand metric tons and can be expanded in stages as demand requires.
