The chronicle tells the story of a Bavarian company across a century of changing times from two world wars to the economic miracle through to the age of digitization and the globalized world. It all started when Alexander Wacker opened the world’s first acetone plant in Burghausen. His work was carried on by a team of scientists, engineers, salespeople and employees – Europe’s leading pioneers of industrial acetylene chemistry, trailblazers in the plastics industry and innovators in silicon chemistry. Today WACKER is a publicly listed company and with more than 16,000 employees enjoys international success.
