About 100 delegates from the NCIP, the Nanjing Vocational School and local communities participated in the event, which featured a “Contemporary Environment Protection” lecture by the NCIP EPB, guided tours of WACKER’s Nanjing site, a Responsible Care® exhibition, and demonstrations of WACKER product applications.

On World Environment Day, WACKER has jointly hosted “Open Day - Environment Day” event at its Nanjing site, together with Nanjing Chemical Industry Park Environmental Protection Bureau (NCIP EPB). Visitors were listening carefully to the introduction of the PVAc solid resin production process.

Bian Zhongwu, NCIP deputy director, and Qian Feng, deputy director at Nanjing’s EPB, both attended today’s event. With the general public invited to enter WACKER’s production site, the aim of the “Open Day - Environment Day” event was to give insights into the chemical industry’s leading safety and environmental technology, and to help build a harmonious community.

Michel Houmard, WACKER Greater China’s vice president of operations, pointed out at the event that: “As a company committed to the Responsible Care® global initiative, WACKER opens its sites to the public at regular intervals. Through these events, we aim to communicate the philosophy of the global chemical industry’s Responsible Care® initiative with its focus on safety, environmental protection and health, and to promote a strong new image of China’s chemical industry.”

2017 is the tenth anniversary of WACKER’s Nanjing polymer production site. Over the past decade, WACKER has invested steadily in this site, successively adding new products and increased capacities. Currently, the site has annual capacities of 60,000 metric tons for dispersible polymer powders, 120,000 metric tons for VAE dispersions, and 20,000 metric tons for PVAc solid resins. All these plants are world-scale and the largest of their kinds in China. At today’s event, WACKER not only showcased state-of-the-art production processes, rigorous quality control and comprehensive EHSS management, but also reviewed the 10-Year history of its Nanjing production site.

In addition to today’s Open Day event in Nanjing, WACKER will also invite the public to its Zhangjiang Integrated Silicone Manufacturing Site in Yangtze Chemical Industry Park in June, 2017.
