Health Ingredients China 2018: WACKER Showcases Novel Process for Moldable Gum

At Health Ingredients China 2018, WACKER is presenting molded sugar-free chewing gum deposited with novel CANDY2GUM® technology. The trick is that chewing gum based on WACKER’s CAPIVA® C premix has a much lower viscosity than conventional gum. This facilitates the molding into different shapes, or even producing chewing gum with a 3D printing machine. At Hi China 2018, WACKER is also showcasing several products which help to improve the effectiveness and functionality of cosmetics and health products. Highlights include CAVAMAX® cyclodextrin, CAVACURMIN®, a gammadextrin-curcumin complex, vegetarian L-Cysteine and HTEssence®, a nature identical hydroxytyrosol that significantly reduces low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Normally, due to its high viscosity, gum is mainly formed in shapes such as sticks, balls and pillows. But now, confectioners can mold gum into different shapes, despite this fact. All they have to do is to use WACKER’s CANDY2GUM® technology and CAPIVA® C. The premix, which can be processed in sugar-confectionery cookers, has a lower viscosity compared to conventional gums. Subsequently, the chewing gum can be molded into a wide variety of shapes, for example bears, hearts and shells. In addition, CAPIVA® C provides a fun mouthfeel – what begins as a piece of chewy candy turns into chewing gum after a short time.
Another advantage of the CANDY2GUM® technology is that the CAPIVA® C and the cooking process allow the use of numerous water-based natural ingredients such as fruit juice, dairy products, chocolate, coconut and plant extracts, which the traditional mixing process could not handle. This not only makes chewing gum more tasteful, but also allows it to carry additional functions.
CANDY2GUM® technology enables the use of standard sugar-confectionery equipment. No additional investment on equipment is required.
