FIC 2019 - WACKER Presents Ingredients for Food and Fun-Beverages

At Food Ingredients China 2019 (FIC 2019), WACKER will present ingredients for food and beverages. Among them, CAVAMAX® W6 plant-based α-cyclodextrin can be used as a whipping aid to develop healthy food and beverages, such as tasty drinks with creative foam toppings. CAPIVA® C is a ready-to-use mix which allows the use of 3D printers to produce individually personalized chewing gum in a wide range of colors, shapes and flavors. In addition, WACKER will also showcase CAVACURMIN®, a highly bioavailable curcumin complex, during FIC 2019. FIC 2019 takes place in Shanghai from March 18 to 20.

Besides health, indulgence and innovative textures are also trends for food and beverages nowadays. To conform to these trends, WACKER has developed a new application for its CAVAMAX® W6 α-cyclodextrin which is to act as a new whipping aid, e.g. to formulate tasty drinks with low or non-fat foam toppings. meeting the market requirements with rich sensory taste provided by foam and the fun experience brought by the way to create the foam - bottle shaking.

CAVAMAX® W6 α-cyclodextrin is an oligosaccharide obtained by enzymatic means from starch-containing raw materials such as corn. Featuring a unique ring-shaped, three-dimensional molecule structure which can encapsulate a lipophilic “guest” molecule, provided its size and shape are compatible, the product can be used as a whipping aid. In comparison to traditional whipping aids, CAVAMAX® W6 works well under acidic conditions. Thus, the product is suitable for various food systems, such as yogurt, beverages and bakery.

Another highlight at the WACKER booth is 3D printing technology for chewing gum which was well received at the first China International Import Exhibition last year. CAPIVA® C is the ready-to-use premix, which enables the production of printed chewing gum. It makes the shape of chewing gum no longer limited by extrusion process. The product also allows the use of a variety of water-based, natural ingredients that could not be used in conventional chewing gum, such as fruit juice, coffee and herbal extracts. Therefore, it is possible to use 3D printers to print individually personalized chewing gum in a wide range of colors, shapes and flavors.

During FIC 2019, WACKER will also showcase CAVACURMIN® a highly bioavailable curcumin complex. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant that may exhibit anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties, but is not readily absorbed by the human body. By complexation with γ-cyclodextrin, the bioavailability of CAVACURMIN® curcumin complex is around 40 times higher compared to conventional curcumin extracts. It is ideal for usage in food supplements, such as tablets, capsules and energy bars or functional beverages.
