Medical silicones satisfy the most stringent of demands on quality, reliability and safety. This guarantees verified purity from the end product back to the raw-material source.

Practical test at WACKER’s new technical center in Jakarta: Technical service engineers test products and formulations for the Southeast Asian market. The new lab focuses mainly on polymeric binders, which are used in construction applications such as tile adhesives, waterproofing membranes or indoor paints.

New IPA reactor as part of the integrated ketene production system at WACKER’s Burghausen site, where acetic acid is converted into ketene, isopropenyl acetate and acetylacetone in various steps. These substances serve not only as starting materials for further products in the WACKER portfolio, but also as building blocks for syntheses in numerous industries, from pharmaceutical active ingredients through to specialty automotive coatings.

Several automotive parts, such as exhaust-pipe suspensions (photo) are manufactured from special silicone rubber compounds like those produced by the Brazilian compounder STC Silicones. STC is now able to market compounds using WACKER raw materials under the “Based on ELASTOSIL^®” logo.

The Munich-based Chemical Group has supplied the Brazilian compounder STC Silicones with high-quality silicone raw materials since 2003 for formulating compounds for the manufacture of composite insulators (picture), among other applications. STC is now authorized to supply ready-to-use compounds made from WACKER silicones under the “Based on ELASTOSIL^®” logo.
