The ELASTOSIL® CM series for flexible thermal barriers

Rising safety demands require barriers that effectively control heat, flames and particles. The ELASTOSIL® CM series provides a thin, flexible, yet highly stable solution for heat shields. This saves weight.

Specifically developed for battery applications, this silicone elastomer ceramifies under the stress of thermal runaway to form a hard, thermally and electrically insulating layer.

This ceramic layer protects the substrate and ensures it remains functional. Consequently, the ELASTOSIL® CM series helps shield the passenger compartment from extremely high temperatures, flames and particles

Properties:

  • Provides a flexible, thermally conductive, dielectric elastomer layer
  • Ceramifies at temperatures above 600 °C to form a hard dielectric layer with reduced thermal conductivity
  • Room-temperature-curing or heat-curing
