Our action plan is based on our SustainaBalance® strategy. Aimed at attaining a more sustainable society, this strategy comprises three principles designed to promote the balance between ecological, social and economic factors.

WACKER’s Relief Fund

Our fund (WACKER HILFSFONDS) enables us to provide unbureaucratic, long-term assistance for victims of natural disasters.

Our aims:

  • To adopt a systematic approach to expanding our relief programs
  • To use our employee donations responsibly

We are absolutely committed to upholding human rights and to condemning all manner of forced and compulsory labor.

Neighbors

Our social responsibility starts in the areas immediately surrounding our sites. We talk openly about what happens behind our factory gates and give prompt and clear answers to any questions that the public raises.

We foster young scientific talent and and maintain close ties with universities. Our researchers are regularly invited to give papers or guest lectures. Students get to see what our work involves and they have an opportunity to write their degree theses at our company or to spend a period as an intern there.

We support charitable projects relating to work with children and teenagers, including a Munich-based charity – “Die Arche” (The Ark) – and help to integrate young refugees into life in Germany.

Schools

We want to encourage young people to show an interest in science and technology. We also support progressive teaching methods. A prime example is our free CHEM2DO® experiment kit, which won Germany’s 2015 SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Award (promoting collaboration between business and schools).

Our sustainability report is published every two years. It is available as an online version in English and German and can be downloaded as a printable PDF file.

This report offers an honest and comprehensive account of sustainability at WACKER not only for our customers, business partners, suppliers and shareholders, but also for analysts, non-governmental organizations, the authorities, our sites’ neighbors, and our employees.

Our Corporate Sustainability team coordinates sustainability-related work across the Group and oversees how our sustainability strategy and our voluntary Responsible Care® and Global Compact commitments are put into effect.
