Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Home to our original mRNA Center of Excellence, the Amsterdam facility provides capabilities for developing mRNA-based processes and GMP manufacturing of customized mRNA processes while also specializing in contract manufacturing of biopharmaceutical proteins, vaccines and Live Biotherapeutic Products based on microbial systems. The site has a 250 L stirred single-use bioreactor and 1500 L stainless-steel stirred fermenter for GMP manufacturing, plus 7-20 L glass stirred single-use fermenters.
Halle an der Saale, Germany
Our Halle facility is located on the Weinberg campus, one of Europe's leading life sciences hubs. Halle has years of experience and expertise in the production of recombinant proteins and is Wacker Biotech’s competence center for in-vitro protein refolding. It has a 1,500 L stainless-steel stirred-tank fermenter for GMP production plus several single-use fermenters at 5 L, 15 L and 150 L volumes. The site collaborates with the Halle TGZ (technology and startup center) and the many universities, companies, and institutes that innovate at the Weinberg Campus.
The Halle site is now home to a second facility, a high-end, dedicated mRNA competence center that opened in June 2024. The plant consists of four independent GMP lines (2 x 30 L and 2 x 3 L) with high production volume and state-of-the-art process design capabilities.
Jena, Germany
Our original, flagship site, Jena is situated on the Beutenberg science campus close to Friedrich Schiller University and various scientific research institutes. It specializes in the contract manufacturing of recombinant proteins and pharmaceutical actives for clinical testing and the commercial market. It has a 350 L stainless-steel fermenter plus various single-use fermenters.

San Diego, California, USA
Our San Diego facility specializes in pDNA production and offers extensive process development services, while also gearing up to offer mRNA and protein production. It has 6 L through 43 L flex-scale single-use bioreactors and a 650 L stainless-steel fermentation vessel, including continuous cell lysis. Corresponding primary recovery and downstream capabilities are available to suit various customer needs.
