How does it work?
You save these audio files to your PC, PDA, MP3 player or cellphone and can decide yourself when to listen to them. Free subscription programs make this a breeze – without having to pass on personal data or email addresses. Of course, you can subscribe to this service anytime and easily cancel, too.
A podcast is "radio to go." It involves downloadable audio files that can be listened to using PCs and related devices. You can certainly also listen to the files on any type of MP3 player, as well as smart- and certain cellphones wherever and whenever you want. Podcasts are special in that they are published regularly and can be subscribed to free-of-charge by listeners. In doing so, you don't need to pass on your email address or personal data and can cancel whenever you want. That means you've got total control.
Podcasts can easily be subscribed to via the free-of-charge iTunes program. It automatically downloads new episodes to your computer. iTunes for Windows or Mac is available free-of-charge under: www.apple.com
You can also subscribe to podcasts via another program called Juice. It's not as comfortable to use as iTunes, but it is suitable for Linux as well as Windows and Mac. You'll find the free download under: juicereceiver.sourceforge.net
To directly subscribe to WACKER’s “Fascination of Chemistry” podcast, simply log on to iTunes or enter the following URL in your favorite podcast software:

If you have subscribed to a podcast, you can listen to episodes directly on your PC, such as with iTunes, or via any portable MP3 player. You can also listen to individual podcasts directly at the website without downloading these. You simply click the play button to start them.
Not at all ... Even though the name stems from iPod and broadcast, you can listen to podcasts directly on your PC or – like with other MP3 files – via any type of portable player device.
