Chinacoat 2020: WACKER Launches New VAE Dispersion for Cement-Based Waterproof Coatings

WACKER is taking part in the first virtual Chinacoat show and will be launching a new vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer (VAE) dispersion called VINNAPAS® 543 ED. The product features excellent flexibility, efflorescence resistance, broad cement adaptability, as well as a perfect balance between workability and sag-resistance. It is especially suitable for the formulation of polymer-modified cement-based waterproof coatings. Other product highlights at WACKER’s online booth include VINNAPAS® 7031 H dispersible polymer powder for decorative plasters and VINNECO® 5044 N dispersible polymer powder, which is based on renewable raw materials. The Chinacoat 2020 virtual show can be visited from December 8, 2020 to February 6, 2021.
VINNAPAS® 543 ED is a new VAE dispersion that WACKER especially developed for polymer-modified cement-based waterproof coatings. The product exhibits excellent flexibility and can work with various types of waterproof coatings. Being highly adaptable to different types of cement in different regions, the new dispersion provides coatings a longer open time that meets application requirements in rigorous conditions, such as high temperatures. Gray cement-based waterproof coatings formulated with VINNAPAS® 543 ED give waterproof coatings a glossy black appearance once they have dried. Thus, it helps formulations to avoid whitening in low-temperature high-humidity weather.
In addition, VINNAPAS® 543 ED offers a perfect balance between workability and sag resistance, which ensures, on the one hand, ready workability, and on the other hand, an evenly and finely coated facade without sagging. Thus, it effectively makes it easier to formulate waterproof coatings.

VINNAPAS® 7031 H for Decorative Plasters
VINNAPAS® 7031 H is a flexible dispersible polymer powder with a hydrophobic effect and very good workability. Compounds modified with VINNAPAS® 7031 H exhibit improved flexural strength. The product offers several advantages such as high deformability, crack resistance, as well as improved cohesion and adhesion to substrates. It also significantly reduces the water absorption and shrinkage rate of decorative plasters. Thus, VINNAPAS® 7031 H dispersible polymer powder helps to improve the overall performance of hydrophobic plasters in order to provide buildings with durable protection and a more natural appearance.
VINNECO® 5044 N Based on Renewable Raw Materials
VINNECO® 5044 N is the first ever 100% renewables-based dispersible polymer powder for construction applications. The product is made via the mass balance approach with raw materials from byproducts of timber-industry processes. As a sustainable alternative to VINNAPAS® 5044 N with identical technical properties, VINNECO® 5044 N is particularly suitable for formulating low-emission mortars with high flexibility and very good adhesion, such as skim coat and external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS/EIFS). Manufacturers who have already used VINNAPAS® 5044 N for the production of dry-mix mortars can thus retain their processes and do not need to modify their formulations.
