To meet different carpet application requirements, during Domotex 2019, WACKER will also present three more VINNAPAS® VAE dispersion grades with different properties: VINNAPAS® CA 5310 and VINNAPAS® CA 5800 are ideally used for precoating of carpet tiles backings, while VINNAPAS® CA 5588, on the other hand, has high filler acceptability and provides a medium to firm hand and is suitable for both tufted carpets and carpet tiles. Thus, WACKER provides high-quality all-round solution for the carpet backing applications.
Domotex 2019: WACKER Presents VAE Dispersion for Adhesives for Home Rug Backings

WACKER will participate Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR (Domotex) for the first time and present VINNAPAS® CA5330 vinyl acetate and ethylene copolymer (VAE) dispersion. Featuring excellent bonding property, the product provides very good tufted bind and long-lasting durability. Low volatile organic compounds (VOC), low odor and flame retardant, VINNAPAS® CA5330 is thus an ideal binder for adhesives for home rug backings. Domotex 2019 takes place in Shanghai from March 26 to 28.
VINNAPAS® CA5330 is a VAE dispersion especially designed for home rug backings. Its solid content is more than 54.5% and adhesion is between 4400 and 5400 mPa.s (RVT viscometer, 23°C，20 rpm). Due to its excellent bonding property, the product provides very good tufted bind and makes carpet more durable. VINNAPAS® CA5330 offers enhanced fire resistance, reducing the amount of aluminum trihydrate (ATH) needed for manufacturing flame-retardant carpets and thus also lowering the costs of the final formulation. Moreover, its optimal ethylene content makes it particularly suitable for carpet binder applications where a softer hand is required.
As a VAE dispersion, VINNAPAS® CA5330 is not produced with any added organic solvents, plasticizers or formaldehyde donors. Consequently, the dispersion ensures minimal odor both during production and in the end product. Compared with conventional styrene-butadiene (SB) binders, the VAE dispersion further has the key advantage of low emission values, which helps carpet manufacturers to meet strict indoor quality certifications such as GB18587 (Indoor decorating and refurbishing materials, China), Green Label Plus (US Carpet and Rug Institute) or GUT (European Association of Environmentally Friendly Carpets), to name just a few.
