This training provides an overview of the special characteristics of silicones in injection molding processing. A particular focus is placed on the challenges related to process design, machinery, and mold design, both in theory and in practice.

Theory

• Brief introduction to silicone chemistry and overview of the product portfolio
• In-depth insight into the processing characteristics of LSR
• Differences between processing LSR and thermoplastics
• Two-component injection molding with self-adhesive LSR

- Injection molding with HCR

- Discussion of specific questions and challenges

Practical Session – Machine Training and Live Production

• Practical approach and guidance from clamping the material containers to the finished component
• Adjustment of process parameters and observation of part quality

Objectives

The training aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the challenges and possibilities of the LSR injection molding process. Troubleshooting strategies and process optimizations are developed in both theory and practice, with special consideration given to the characteristics of different product groups.
