The Executive Board bears direct responsibility for managing the company and represents Wacker Chemie AG in all dealings with third parties. Its responsibilities include managing and monitoring the Group’s strategic development by allocating funds, distributing resources and supporting and overseeing the operating units.

Our Executive Board is made up of four members: two studied chemistry, one focused on bioscience, and one has a background in engineering and business administration. Dr. Rudolf Staudigl, Dr. Christian Hartel, Dr. Tobias Ohler and Auguste Willems have all held leading positions in our company for many years.

Profile: Dr. Rudolf Staudigl

Dr. Rudolf Staudigl has been President and CEO of Wacker Chemie AG since May 2008.

Born in Neufahrn bei Freising on June 18, 1954, he obtained a degree in Chemistry from Munich’s Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in 1978, before gaining a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences in 1981.

After a research residency at Harvard University, Cambridge (MA), he returned to Munich as a member of academic staff at the LMU’s Institute of Inorganic Chemistry. In 1983, he joined Wacker Siltronic AG, where he occupied various top positions over the next few years. At the Portland site in the USA, he became Vice President of Operations in 1989, before being appointed President of Wacker Siltronic Corporation in 1990. He joined Wacker Siltronic AG’s Executive Board in Burghausen in 1993. He became a member of Wacker-Chemie GmbH’s Executive Board in 1995 and has been an Executive Board member of Wacker Chemie AG since 2005. He became President and CEO in May 2008.

Profile: Dr. Tobias Ohler

Dr. Tobias Ohler was born in Saarbrücken on January 25, 1971. After studying Economics and Business Administration & Engineering in Germany, France and Australia, he gained a doctorate in Economics from the University of Oldenburg in 2000.

In 1997, he began working as a consultant and associate principal at McKinsey. He joined Wacker Chemie AG in 2004 and started working as Director of Corporate Controlling in 2005. In 2008, he took charge of Raw Materials Procurement and, in 2010, joined the Executive Board of Siltronic AG as Chief Financial Officer. Dr. Tobias Ohler has been a member of the Executive Board of Wacker Chemie AG since January 2013.

Profile: Dr. Christian Hartel

Dr. Christian Hartel was born on March 27, 1971, in Frankfurt am Main. After completing a degree in Chemistry at the University of Konstanz, he earned a doctorate in Natural Sciences from the universities of Geneva and Frankfurt am Main.

He then started his career as a consultant at Bain & Company Germany Inc., Munich. 2003 saw him join Wacker Chemie GmbH’s Corporate Development department. Between 2005 and 2009, he occupied various managerial positions in sales & marketing, product development, and production at the WACKER SILICONES and WACKER BIOSOLUTIONS divisions. In 2010, he became head of Raw Materials Procurement at Wacker Chemie AG. In 2012, he took over as President of WACKER SILICONES. He has been a member of Wacker Chemie AG’s Executive Board since November 2015.

Auguste Willems

Profile: Auguste Willems

Auguste Willems was born on February 26, 1956 in Tongeren, Belgium. He studied Natural Sciences, Economics and Engineering at the University of Leuven in Belgium before going on to complete a master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering.

In 1986, he took over a range of responsibilities in marketing and sales at Henkel Benelux, before being appointed as Industry Vice President in 1994. HENKEL then sent him on various international assignments, such as Jakarta, Indonesia (as President of Henkel Indonesia) and the USA (as Vice President of Organic Specialties for Henkel North America). After Henkel split off its specialty-chemicals business, he transferred to Cognis as Group Vice President of Functional Products and member of the Corporate Executive Committee in 2002. He has been an Executive Board member of Wacker Chemie AG since 2006.
