US Employees Committed to Fighting Cancer

Adrian, Feb 04, 2019

In 1997, WACKER Adrian joined the American Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life” program. The company has been in the fight ever since, having raised close to $250,000 so far.

Actively fighting cancer for over 20 years: the organizers of the “Relay for Life” events at WACKER Adrian hold the Bunny Run fundraiser every spring, for example.

Cheryl Stout and Eric Earles are volunteers and team co-captains for Relay For Life events at WACKER’s Adrian site. They organize monthly fundraisers with great support from their fellow employees.

Such events include specialty lunches that offer homemade soups or chili cookoffs. A range of varied activities – such as the Race For Hope golf tournament, an Easter egg hunt, Bunny Run spring fundraiser, raffles, hot chocolate bar, cake sale, luminary sale, to name just a few – helps keep the fight against cancer on people’s minds the entire year over.

“We couldn’t have accomplished what we have done so far without the support, time and effort of all our employee volunteers, both active and retired,” said Cheryl Stout. “We greatly appreciate their participation, donations and all they do.”

Why is WACKER Adrian so heavily involved in Relay For Life? “Everyone has their own reason,” Eric Earles explains. “Most people, at least once in their life, will have a loved one, friends, or even themselves be diagnosed with cancer. You cannot fight that fight alone.”
