Instructors at the WACKER ACADEMY of Europe (Burghausen)
Dr. Hartmut Ackermann
Dr. Hartmut Ackermann studied chemistry in Marburg an der Lahn, earning his PhD in inorganic chemistry. He joined WACKER in 2000 as a process chemist for the methyl resin plant. Alongside his work at WACKER, Dr. Ackermann was active in R&D support in the field of industrial coatings at Akzo. Since 2006, he has been technical marketing manager for Construction Chemicals, supporting customers in EMEA/LATAM. Dr. Ackermann also has several years’ experience as a customer-training instructor.
Markus Barth, PhD, is Head of Production for the Halle facility of Wacker Biotech. Markus is a trained bioengineer and biochemist. Within more than 7 years he has gained significant experience in the large-scale production under GMP conditions of various biopharmaceuticals using mammalian cells and bacteria.
Dr. Gerhard Beer
Dr. Gerhard Beer studied chemistry, writing his doctoral dissertation on physical-organic chemistry. Since 2001, he has held various positions at Wacker Chemie AG, in both R&D and application technology for personal care. He is currently in charge of the laboratory for hair care development and is the technical contact person for key account customers, and also for the EMEA region.
Dr. Christoph Beyer
Dr. Christoph Beyer is a chemist and studied at the Technical University of Munich and Regensburg University. After finishing his doctoral thesis on organic chemistry, he began his career at WACKER in 2011 as a deputy operations manager. As technical manager at WACKER Polymers, he has led the applications laboratory for surface coatings resins since 2016. In 2017 he has also been involved in WACKER ACADEMY as a trainer.
Eva-Maria Bienert started her career as a chemistry laboratory assistant in 1982 at the “Vereinigten Aluminium Werken” in Töging. She joined WACKER’s “Research in Silanes” department in 1986. From 2001 to 2011, she held frequent training programs for distributors and customers within the Textiles BT. After joining the “Personal Care” department, she has held several training programs for distributors and customers on the topic of “Silicones in Cosmetics.”
Andrea Bogner is a marketing manager for silicone gels and elastomers in the fields of wound care, skin fixation, orthotics, prosthetics and moldmaking. As a specialist in engineering management, she has worked in various positions in marketing and product management at Wacker Chemie AG since 2008.
Dr. Christof Brehm
Dr. Christof Brehm studied chemistry and made his doctoral thesis in organic chemistry at the university Saarbrücken. He started his career in various positions of Research and Development at the Max-Planck-Institute Kohlenforschung (Mühlheim/Ruhr), ALTANA Pharma AG as well as at BASF SE. In 2008, he began to work at WACKER Chemie AG in the group of Innovation Silicones. Since the year 2017, he leads as Technical Manager the application laboratory for developments in the field of Household Care and is in this respect the technical contact for all customers of the EMEA region.
Sarah Burke studied at Eastern Michigan University, where she received a Master of Science degree in 2015. She began her career with WACKER in 2016 as a research and development scientist in the newly established SILICONES R&D Center in Ann Arbor, MI, where she helped to develop products for the personal care and decorative coating market segments. Sarah joined the ACEO® team in fall 2018 with responsibility for the US Open Print Lab.
Franziska Chatzisaros joined WACKER as a cooperate trainee in 2013 and assisted with many projects in commercial departments, after which she joined the Procurement team for raw materials. Since 2018, she has been the sales manager for ACEO® in Europe, responsible for raising awareness for the application potential of silicone 3D printing as a new technology throughout the industry.
After completing her chemical training in 2001, Susanne Denk worked in quality control at Siltronic AG. Since 2013, she has been employed at WACKER’s Personal Care unit, where she works in the technical lab and is responsible for tissue applications. In 2016, she completed advanced training as a WACKER lab technician certified by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). She offers WACKER ACADEMY courses on tissue products and applications from our LIOSIL® portfolio.
Dr. Ovidiu Feier-Iova
Dr. Ovidiu Feier-Iova: after completing his degree in chemistry and his doctoral thesis in organometallic chemistry at Heidelberg University, he occupied various posts at KAO Germany GmbH. Having previously worked as head of Research and Development at KMP Printtechnik AG, he has been working as technical manager and laboratory manager in WACKER’s Personal Care Applications sector since 2016. He is also the Technical Champion for WACKER Personal Care Applications in the EMEA region.
Joanna Fioravanti earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Adrian College. After an internship as a lab technician, Joanna joined WACKER full time as part of the Commercial Rotation Program in June 2012. This program involved two years of various sales and marketing projects through out WACKER’s chemical divisions. In June 2014, Joanna transitioned to the Construction Silicones team as Sales Manager. Joanna recently joined the ACEO® team in December 2019 as Business Development Manager for the NCA region.
Tobias Franzke has worked at WACKER since completing his chemical training in 2006. After positions at Pulp & Paper and Household Care, he joined Personal Care in 2016. He works in the technical lab there and is responsible for skin and color care applications. He holds WACKER ACADEMY courses on cosmetic products in our BELSIL® line.
Dr. Thomas Gröer
Dr. Thomas Gröer has a doctorate in chemistry and is a technical manager for silicone gels and elastomers in wound care and prosthetics. He is responsible for product development and application support at customer premises. Dr. Gröer has been working at WACKER as a technical manager for silicone elastomers in various fields of application since 2000.
Dr. Tassilo Habereder
Dr. Tassilo Habereder studied chemistry and wrote his PhD thesis in inorganic chemistry. Before he joined Wacker Chemie AG he had worked in various positions for Ciba Speciality Chemicals (now BASF). Since 2009, he has been working as technical manager and laboratory head for Personal Care applications at Wacker Chemie AG. Moreover he works as Global Technical Champion for Wacker Skin and Color Care applications.
Stefan Hautzinger has worked at WACKER since completing his chemical training in 2013. After positions at Reaction Safety and Operational Analytics, he joined Personal Care in 2019. He works in the technical lab there and is responsible for haircare applications. He holds WACKER ACADEMY courses on cosmetic products in our BELSIL® line.
Dr. Jörg Heinlein
Dr. Jörg Heinlein began work as technical service manager for effect pigments based on liquid crystalline polymers after his studies. Later on he was responsible for market development for optical film applications with liquid crystalline polymers. In 2011, he conducted as technical service manager for HDK fumed silica with focus on coatings and composites first trainings for WACKER SILICONES distribution partners. Since then, he has been part of the WACKER ACADEMY training team.
Dr. Dieter Heldmann
Dr. Dieter Heldmann studied at the University of Regensburg, earning a doctorate in organic chemistry. Following a postdoctoral period at ETH Zurich, he started his career at WACKER’s Corporate Research & Development department. Since 2006, as senior technical manager, he has supervised the use of silicone products in industrial-coating applications, in particular binders for heat-resistant coatings.
Dr. Hardy Herold
Dr. Hardy Herold studied Chemistry at the Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen (Germany), and obtained a doctorate in the field of geophysics. After spending two years at KWU (Siemens subsidiary), he started at WACKER POLYMERS in October 1989, working in Technical Marketing, where he supported customers around the world. During this period, he spent substantial periods abroad, including as technical center head in both Moscow (Russia) and Allentown (USA). Since November 2021, Dr. Herold has been a trainer at WACKER ACADEMY Europe.
Dr. Marion Killat
Dr. Marion Killat studied and received her doctorate in chemistry at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. Following a post-doctoral stay in the USA, she started her career at WACKER in research and development at WACKER POLYMERS. Shortly after the founding of WACKER ACADEMY, she became a member of the trainer team with a focus on various products and applications of the POLYMERS division. In 2020, she took over the management of WACKER ACADEMY Europe.
Michael Killermann joined WACKER in 1992 in the analytical department. From 1996 to 2008, he worked as a lab technician in the Building & Coatings business team, where he was in charge of technical distributor support for industrial coatings. He was recruited to the WACKER ACADEMY training team as a practical instructor in May 2008.
Egbert Klaassen is an Industrial Design Engineer (MSc) by education. He has worked in different functions at major chemical companies throughout his career. He has experience with a variety of chemical technologies such as engineering plastics, silicones as well as specialty monomers. He also has in-depth knowledge of multiple market segments such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, automotive, electronics, consumer goods and paints & coatings. Egbert joined the ACEO® team, WACKER’s 3D printing with silicones service, in June 2018 where has been responsible for marketing until today
Dr. Ulrich Lauter
Dr. Ulrich Lauter studied chemistry in Regensburg and obtained his doctorate at the Max-Planck Institute of Polymer Research in Mainz. He first came to WACKER in 2012, following a postdoc position in the USA and 14 years at Vinnolit in the research, development and application technology department. He is currently technical service manager of the VINNOL® surface coating resins segment.
Dr. Florian Liesener
Dr. Günter Mahr is a chemist and studied at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany. After receiving his doctorate in bioinorganic chemistry, he began his career at WACKER in 1994 at WACKER SILICONES’ former R&D department. He later switched to application technology and is currently a Technical Marketing laboratory manager, responsible for diverse applications in the area of industrial chemistry.
Since completing her chemical training in 1999, Monika Meier has worked at WACKER, where she was initially responsible for the Pulp and Paper unit and, starting 2001, for the Tissue unit. In 2011, she completed advanced training as a WACKER lab technician certified by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Since then, she has worked in the Personal Care unit, where she is responsible for tissue applications in the technical lab. She offers WACKER ACADEMY courses on tissue products and applications from our LIOSIL® portfolio.
Working as a service engineer, Johann Müller provided global support for WACKER’s silicone rubber textile coatings market segment for 18 years. Since 2008, he has headed Technical Marketing at WACKER’s Rubber Solutions business team, with responsibility for Germany, Austria, Eastern Europe, Russia and India.
Dr. Ingo Müller
Dr. Ingo Müller studied mineralology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. After completing his degree, Müller spent twelve years working as a scientist for Hercules in Düsseldorf, where he studied the interactions of cellulose ethers with cement phases. He then pursued this subject for his Ph.D. from the University of Münster. He joined WACKER in 2008, where he was primarily engaged in cement analysis, cement chemistry and method development. His development work since 2017 has encompassed analysis methods for ultrasonic testing on building materials that undergo curing processes.
Andreas Peic joined SILICONES after completing his chemical training at WACKER in 2008. As a member of the Construction Chemicals business team, his responsibilities have included technical support for gypsum, boards and insulating materials. Since 2010, he has been a trainer for SILRES® construction applications at the WACKER ACADEMY. Alongside his job at WACKER, he is currently training to become a certified chemical technician.
Dr. Ingmar Piglosiewicz
Dr. Ingmar Piglosiewicz worked after his PhD thesis as JSPS Research Fellow on Porous Coordination Polymers at Kyoto University Japan. After his work as technical service manager for special solvents and gas absorption fluids at Clariant Produkte GmbH, he began work as technical service manager for fumed silica with focus on adhesives and imaging systems at Wacker Chemie AG. Since 2011, he has been member of the WACKER ACADEMY training team.
Dr. Holger Poths
Dr. Holger Poths completed his chemistry PhD, which focused on polymer synthesis. He was a technical service manager for nonwoven / textile customers for over 17 years at WACKER POLYMERS and AIR PRODUCTS POLYMERS (APP). Since 2008, he has been platform manager for nonwovens, heading three chemical labs dedicated to application development and technical service for EU customers. Since March 2012, he has been platform champion of the global competency center for nonwovens, incl. second-level technical support in Asia.
Christian Putz is technical service manager within the Construction Chemicals business team at WACKER SILICONES. The certified paints and lacquers engineer has been with WACKER since 1998. He has been working as technical service manager for SILRES® silicone resin emulsion paints and plasters for the construction industry since 2007.
Since completing her chemical training in 2016, Anna Reff has been working at the technical laboratory of WACKER’s Personal Care department, where she is responsible for skin, color and sun care applications. She offers WACKER ACADEMY courses about cosmetic products in our BELSIL® portfolio.
Axel Schmidt is Vice President of 3D Printing at Wacker and Head of ACEO®. He has held increasingly responsible sales and management positions within WACKER – some related to silicone rubber. Schmidt began his career with WACKER in 1994 as a management trainee, progressing to his first of three overseas assignments in the United States as Business Line Manager-Sealants in Adrian, MI before moving to California as President of Precision Silicones, Inc. (SILMIX®). Returning to Germany in 2006, he was Director for Distribution Management and Managing Director of WACKER SCHOTT Solar GmbH as well as Director Rubber Solutions and he was responsible for WACKER’s silicones business in North and Central as Vice President from 2012 to 2017. Before his appointment at ACEO® he was as “Chief Digital Officer” responsible for Customer Experience and New Business Model.
Dr. Claudius Schwarzwälder
Dr. Claudius Schwarzwälder studied chemistry and wrote his PhD thesis in physical chemistry. After the work as post doc at the University of Cambridge he worked as a cosmetic chemist in the R&D department of Beiersdorf AG. In 2001, he began work at WACKER`s Silicones Personal Care Team. As a technical marketing manager he conducted trainings for sales managers and distributors until 2009. He is marketing manager for the market segment Personal Care since 2009.
Dr. Vera Seitz
Vera Seitz studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, graduating from the Institute of Medical and Polymer Engineering with a doctorate degree. She started her career as Product Design Engineer at WACKER in 2016, joining the ACEO® Project 3D printing with silicones. In this function, she supports customers in realizing additive part designs and is responsible for the quality control of additive manufactured silicone parts.
Dr. Constantin Tiemeyer
Dr. Constantin Tiemeyer is a technical service manager for coatings at the Consumer & Industrial Polymers business unit. In 2010, he finished his degree in chemistry (Dipl. Chem.) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He earned his PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) there in 2014. Since January 2019, he has been working as a technical service manager at WACKER POLYMERS’ East business team.
Claudia Weiss, a WACKER-trained chemical laboratory assistant, has worked at Personal Care since 2007. Her focus is on haircare. She offers sales managers and distributors WACKER ACADEMY courses about BELSIL® products and their potential applications.
Marco Wolf is Wacker Biotech GmbH's Head of Production for the Jena site. Marco is a trained biotechnology engineer and completed the qualification of Master of Business Administration. He has more than 13 years of experience in the large-scale production of various biopharmaceuticals under GMP conditions.
