Wacker Chemical Corporation

Adrian is WACKER’s oldest US site. We started manufacturing silicones here back in 1969 and became the plant’s sole owner in 1987. What initially set the site apart was its proximity to big automakers. Today we supply a diverse range of industries with silicone raw materials, fluids and emulsions, and we are developing new business areas such as specialty silicones for wound dressings.

Adrian is also the headquarters of Wacker Chemical Corporation, WACKER’s North American subsidiary, responsible for our silicones business in North and Central America and the Andean region. Administration, finance, marketing, sales and technical departments are all based here, as well as a technical center and the WACKER ACADEMY. In June 2017, we opened a new state-of-the-art R&D center for silicones in neighboring Ann Arbor, where we develop new products for customers in the Americas. Adrian is located in a foreign trade zone (FTZ), a free trade area which offers a number of customs benefits.

As at all our sites, environmental protection is a top priority here. For 20 years now we have held our Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in cooperation with the local Environmental Education Center and the Anderson Development Company. The collection day gives Lenawee County residents an opportunity to responsibly dispose of their domestic hazardous waste – including paint, coatings, pesticides, aerosol cans and much more. Our commitment to protecting the environment has earned us the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Achievement Award.
